The Whooping Creek Bridge was originally built in 1928 (According to here). Unfortunately, the bridge was closed in May of 2006 after a DOT inspection. 5 months later, no work has been done on the bridge. From what I understand, there is division on what to do with the bridge. Some people want to replace it, others want to save it.
Update: The bridge is open for traffic again!
All the pictures of the bridge below were taken on September 23, 2006.
As you can see, the bridge uses a Warren truss with vertical supports. This is one of my favorite bridge designs, and it is very efficient.

Where did the old bridge metal go. My brother (deceased) and his wife engraved their initials on the bridge about 1945-46. We visited the area about a month ago and found out it had been replaced. I thought I could take a picture of the bridge with their initials on it and take it to my sister in law who is 76.
We heard that the old bridge was taken to McIntosh Reserve. We are coming back to the area this Wed
2/22/2017. Can you give me a reply b/4 then and if not can I find the information somewhere else.
I would also love to get an original picture of the old bridge for her. They lived within walking distance of the creek and bridge in the 1940’s.
Thank you for you time.

Hi Sybil,
I don’t know where the old bridge ended up. I have long since moved away from Carroll County and haven’t been back in a long time. If it is true that it was taken to McIntosh, that is really neat. Did you end up checking there?
Thank you for the reply. We hope to go to the area tomorrow and I will find out. Stay well spring is in the air.

I talked to the McIntosh Preserve and it was too costly to move it there. The city told me that most of it was scraped. It would have been a so good to find it and get a picture. I thank you taking time to reply to my request. Enjoy this beautiful weather.

Thanks for the update. That is too bad the old bridge was just scrapped.
