  2. It doesn’t look like it could hold too much, if the weights were put on the top. A Popsicle stick positioned horizontally can hold about 7lbs. Wouldn’t those sticks break?

  4. i am a physics teacher in Fargo, ND and my students build bridges for about a month at the end of the school year. i have just found this posting. last year one of my students built a bridge that held 2100 lbs of weight plates. i cannot remember the weight of the bridge but it set a new record at my school.

  5. hello I have to build a bridge for science class that weighs less than 350 grams but holds 300 pounds. Would you mind emailing the plans to me or give me pointers? it is also an amazing bridge by the way.

    • i recently finished a bridge building project, our bridge was 250 grams and held 539 pounds, had we not run out of weight and had to go get more we might have topped 600 with ease

    Great design. My Son, took yourr pictures off this website and from your picture built the bridge but made several improvements. He added more upright popicle sticks to the side and did not cut any popsice sticks and allowed them to extended out. He layered another truss on the outside and beefed up the top with three layers going in three different directions. The bridge was exactly 150 sticks. They started testing it with 50 lbs weights and went up. THey ran out of weights in the gym to test it, so a gentlemen in the crowd jumped up on top (his weight….240 lbs)….the bridge still didn’;t break. After 635 lbs and no more weight to add….the teacher gave my son an A plus. Great design. Thanks.

  10. wow that really cool i have to build a bridge for science and i really was thinking of using yours a starting plan and adding but my weights will have to hang from the bottom of the bridge not the top.. do you think that will make a difference??

  12. Hey I need to build a bridge that holds 30 pounds and I like this design but I can only use 100 Popsicle sticks and I would like to know if this bridge would work with only 100 sticks

  13. Would this design work using un modified popsicle sticks? I’m thinking of making it but I am not allowed to cut the sticks. I can see that some of these are but is it possible to build without doing so? Would that sacrifice some strength?
